1. Does Business Central Support Item Ledger Compression?
Business Central no longer includes the Item Ledger Entry compression functionality that was available in earlier versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Acumens Item Ledger Compression reintroduces this capability, enabling historical Item Ledger Entries to be compressed according to defined cut off periods and schedules, while preserving data integrity.
Over time, records such as Item Ledger Entries, sales invoices, sales credit memos, purchase invoices, purchase credit memos, transfer orders, and posted shipments can inflate database size and slow performance. Acumens Item Ledger Compression helps by grouping and compressing eligible entries and documents based on configurable cut off periods and conditions, reducing storage needs while preserving essential information for audits and reporting.
Standard Business Central does not provide functionality to compress historical posted documents. Over time, posted sales, purchase, transfer, and shipment documents can increase database size even when they are no longer required for daily operations. Acumens Item Ledger Compression enables controlled compression of historical posted documents based on defined cut-off dates and schedules, helping reduce database storage while retaining essential information for audits and reporting.
